Sugar Flower Basics

Are you looking to up-level your cake decorating skills? Maybe you're already a buttercream pro but you want to move into the world of sugar craft. Maybe you want to learn a new skill to wow your family and clients. Maybe you just want to spend a weekend in Brighton learning all the tricks of the trade from a professional pastry chef.

Hi, I'm Giulia, and I know you'd love this 2-day sugar flower class

Come and take part in my fun, laid back, comprehensive sugar flower class, which will take you step by step through everything you need to know to take your flowers to the next level.

Plus, as this is the first time this class is running, I am offering it at 40% off! What are you waiting for?

Sugar flowers are the main reason couples choose me for their weddings.

I am asked all the time if I would teach this unique skill. Well, now I am!

During this 2-day class, we will work on a 2-tier dummy to create an elegant show-stopper for you to take home. This will include some modern draping, as well as a variety of sugar flowers.

Throughout the class, you will be supported in practising key techniques and I will be there to help and demonstrate at every step of the way. This is a hands-on class, which is by far the best way of learning, so we can troubleshoot along the way.

This class is suitable for complete beginners, and I will provide a full list of materials for you to replicate these skills for years to come. This class is an investment in your skills, your business, and yourself.

Class runs from 10am – 5pm in Brighton at Fair Cake.

You will learn:

  • How to work with dummy cakes

  • How to create elegant cake ruffles which are so on-trend right now

  • How to make sugar roses, dahlias, peonies, and hydrangeas

  • How to make sugar foliage

  • How to wire your flowers to arrange on your dummy

  • Tips and tricks on making, storing, and arranging your sugar flowers

You will go home with:

  • One two-tiered dummy cake and

  • New skills and confidence in working with flower paste

  • New sugar flower making skills

  • Confidence to recreate this at home

  • Answers to any cake questions that you can throw at me!

All ingredients and equipment for the day are provided. I will also provide a box for you to take your cake home, but do bring a bag if you're headed home on the train.

If you have any questions at all about the class, email me and I will do my best to answer all your questions.

Your Questions Answered

Why should I learn from you?

I am a fully qualified pastry chef, cake business owner, and cake-decorating teacher. I have 8 years of experience under my belt, and sugar flowers are a big part of my business. You can have a look at my portfolio here.

Where is the class held?

The class is hosted by Fair Cake in Brighton. The address is 119-120 Western Road, First & Second Floor, Brighton BN1 2AD, and it is above the Leader's Estate Agent. This beautiful purpose-built school has everything you need for a first class experience.

When is the class held?

Class will be 10am - 5pm on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th February 2023. There will be a break for lunch.

How much is the class?

This is the first time this class has run, so as an introductory offer this class will run at a discounted price of £250. Classes at Fair Cake are usually £225/day, so this is a real bargain!

Do I need to bring anything?

Just your lovely self, some clothes you don't mind getting food colouring on, and a flat-bottom bag to take your box home. You're welcome to bring a packed lunch, but there are lots of cafes nearby.

I've never made flowers before. Is this class suitable for me?

Absolutely! We all start somewhere, and you will be guided along every step. The class schedule allows for everyone to work at their own pace, and I'm here to help if you get stuck.

Is this a hands-on class?

Yes! There will be some demonstration-only steps, but most of the class will be hands-on, as I believe this is the best way for you to see, feel, and learn the right techniques.

How many students will attend?

The biggest Fair Cake workshop seats 12, but this class is suitable for up to 6 students. This way, everyone gets plenty of time for questions and hands-on assistance from me.

I still have questions

Email me at info@cakesinbloom.co.uk and I will do my best to help. This applies after class too, if you go home and get stuck, email me!

What happens if the class is cancelled?

In the unlikely event that the class is cancelled, your fee will be refunded to you.

Can I pay a deposit?

Payment plans are available by email.

Raspberry Macaroons

Giulia has been helping me with learning how to bake and perfect my macarons.

She has been just amazing with educating me on techniques around the meringue, piping skills and the folding which I struggled the most with. Her patience in getting me to this point has been incredible and I feel more confident.

Thank you for all your help, this will be an amazing addition to my

wedding cake business

Ebru, Cake Maker

Mini Chocolate Cookies

Giulia is such a patient tutor and explains things really well. I had a really lovely afternoon with her and came away with the most delicious macarons.

She also showed me how to make chocolate ganache and caramel. I would definitely recommend Giulia's lessons to anyone, and will be booking one of her cake decorating classes soon!

Thanks so much Giulia!
