Yesterday, 21st October 2019, we debuted "Jean" at the Chilworth Manor Wedding Fayre, hosted by the incredible team at PMN Wedding Fayres.
Paul and Karen, the organisers, were endlessly helpful in coordinating this fayre, and we were so happy that we could attend on very short notice. As some of you know, we were scheduled to attend a fayre with PMN next week, but we have a very special celebration to attend (and make cake for!) and Paul and Karen let us reschedule without problems but only kindness and support.
To all the couples who gave up their sunny Sunday to come and explore Chilworth Manor with us, I hope you had a lovely time. It was so great to meet you all, and your families, and I hope it provided plenty of inspiration. And I hope you got to see the horse and carriage by White Hill Carriages because they looked majestic. I will get in touch with you all over this coming week, and look forward to a busy remainder of 2019 with cake consultations for all of you.
But back to "Jean". The brief for this cake design was very appropriate for the gloomy season that we are headed into. "Gothic Chic" was very much the vibe, and as with every cake we make it truly takes a village:
Of course, the cakes are as always baked from scratch with the best ingredients.
They are then covered with The Sugarpaste, which is by far the best fondant we have worked with.
The flowers are then made with techniques learnt from Maggie Austin using a combination of her gumpaste and that from Squires Kitchen.
But even that doesn't scratch the surface of tools and colours and cutters that are involved in every single flower made.
This particular design also has the most beautiful stenciling on the bottom tier (check our instagram for a close up!) made using a stencil by the charming Silvia Favero.
As with all our cakes, "Jean" is fully customisable both on the inside and outside, so as always please fill out an enquiry form for any additional information you would like on her or any of our other designs.
We look forward to exhibiting with PMN again in the new year at lots more venues in both Sussex and Hampshire, and can't wait to see what 2020 has in store!
