This time of year can be full of joy and cheer, and there is something incredibly comforting about the carols and fairy lights that come up every year.
So it's no surprise that the weeks leading up to Christmas are always busy with festive-themed weddings. Some are white and silver and, some are glitter and glam, but my personal favourites are when I get to make a bold design, preferably in red.
So red isn't necessarily the first colour that comes to mind when you think of a wedding cake design. It's very bold, and it's a brave choice that is bound to be the talking point of the evening.
But after all, isn't that what you want for your wedding cake?
Wedding cake cutting is the last big moment of your wedding day, and your first act together as a married couple. But often, wedding cakes are shoved up against a wall, or in a corner, and don't get their chance to shine.
However, a bespoke design has had so much love and care and collaboration put into it that it seems unfair to neglect it all evening. This is why I always recommend putting your cake in a central location for your wedding day - whether this is in the entryway so that it can be admired on the way in, or in the middle of the room so that it can shine from all angles.
So here are my top 3 tips to style your Christmas Wedding cake.
1. Less is more
If you're choosing a bold colour like red or navy or green, I strongly recommend using it as an accent colour. By focusing on a single tier in the design I'm showcasing here, you can add some drama without the design becoming flat or heavy.
The design is then complemented with a double ribbon in gold and tartan, which brings in the green from the foliage.
Of course, an all-red cake can also be gorgeous, and have so much personality and wow factor, but it can lose some of the wedding vibe and move into Christmas party territory.
2. Personalise it
Gold calligraphy was used on the design above to really utilise the double-barrelled tier and add some sparkle to this design.
Personalisation can also be done with a custom cake topper, which can be a sweet keepsake to take home.

3. Embrace the theme
If you're having a Christmas wedding, then have a Christmas wedding.
What I mean by this is: don't shy away from the theme. There are many ways to make the red and gold theme classy and understated.
Maybe we can match the ribbon that you've used on your invitations to the ribbon on the cake. Or perhaps use the same typography.
Maybe we can match the flowers you're using as part of your centrepieces on the cake.
